This is a new one to me, a phenomenon from late Jan. 2012, and the jury is still out over their origins. I have not yet had time to delve deeper. What do you guys think? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKvmuzr6w1c&feature=share

I haven't delved very deeply either. Mostly what I've been seeing is that the majority of these videos have been proven to be hoaxed. One of the supposed sources is a video game, which I've seen a clip of and it did sound like a lot like some of these videos. Until I hear it myself, I'm going to remain skeptical, otherwise I'd have to worry about what we're doing to cause this, and where it might lead. I'd rather not think about that...

Yeah, the more videos I watch, the more I tend to think of a well orchestrated hoax, fascinating, yet untrue. That is what my spidey sense is telling me. At first I was hoping it might be connected to auroral sounds or polar shift in some way, but it soon become apparent no news crew recorded them, and it raises the question why verified reports weren't far greater. I see this as a social phenomena, not a psychic one; one more akin to Marble Hornets videos. None the less, I thought I should catalogue it here at SRI by reporting the story.

Not all are faked. A friend of mine outside of Austin, heard similar sounds and they seemed to be coming from the sky, all around. However, it wasn't quite as loud and was for a very brief time. Too bad she didn't try to record it.

Oh and news crews are like cops. Never around when you need one.

Cool. Thank you the second-hand report Lightwalker. Glad to know there's perhaps some truth to it.

Sorry Joe. 2 mins in I stopped. If the sky was quakeing it wouldnt sound musical or like that more like an earthquake, a nasty sound. Listening you would know by the sound if it was good or bad. Sorry, from me its a hoax, a load of boll**ks.

Dont want the language police after me again.
But that was my first thought. I always go with my gut feeling, HOAX

Do not apologize POD. I'm highly skeptical also, but still trying to remain objective. Like I said, I want to report on these kind of stories, since they pertain to the supernatural and unexplained. I think they should at least be mentioned, no matter how fraudulent.

Does everything have to be a hoax? I've heard a similar sound to the Taos hum. I have credible witnesses who have heard sounds coming from all around them, that they could not explain. I'm not making this up, so is it possible?

If you want a plausible explanation, go to my site, here:
    Sounds Heard Around the World

I find it plausible that when atmospheric conditions are just right, it's possible to hear the sounds of the universe, just like whale songs from the bottom of "the deep", or echos in a canyon.

Can you just for one minute, imagine what our planet may have sounded like, as mountains were formed, oceans created, tectonic plates scraping and colliding? It must have been a tremendous sound...

Listen to the recordings of the unknown sounds posted at that link, then listen to the recordings of the planets and even the sun (also at that link), then try to decide.

I thought it was a hoax too but if thats the case with the amount of countries its been heard in its a jolly expensive one. I heard something like it over a month ago out here in the sticks and had quite a conversation about it with Eric off the radio. So at the moment I am sitting on the fence over it, I have no idea.
