| Ok I know there is a lot of trouble makers among this but it about time the British people stood up against this government they are crippling us all and now we have been told the taxpayer has to pay the debts of other countries like Portugal etc because of the euro and we dont even have euro as our main currency but because we joined the system and pay for the privalge of being in it although we gain nothing from it, we still have to bail these countries out. OH by the way Pod did you know that for every pound you work for really you are only taking 30 pence home all the rest go in taxes of one type or another to the government. People just cant survive anymore over here with all the cuts, I could go on and on about this but I am getting angry now.
Just wish I was back living in London I would be on the streets with them. _________________ Span time and Space

| They are even threatening to spoil the royal wedding now. These demonstrators who where rioting last weekend. Makes me ashamed to be British sometimes. Its one thing to demonstate against banks and big bonuses, whatever. But its David Cameron, Primeminister who has caused all this. Demonstate outside 10 Downing street. Please do not spoil the royal wedding. Its nothing to do with Prince William and Kate, why spoil there wedding day. Also, David cameron is always trying to put the blame onto the Police, David Cameron is the one making cut backs on all the public sector, then when riots hapen and it looks bad, its always somebody elses fault. NOT HIS. Total Dickhead. An Anti christ. One to join all the others in other countries who are experiencing mayhem. |

| OOH POD go it girl...I know the anachists are going to try and ruin the wedding but I dont think that will happen there will be so many cops on the streets that day and snipers on the roof tops also the queens guards etc there always is when the Royals are doing anything ceremonial.
Mind you I bet the troublemakers looters etc will have a good try it was the same when the students tried to have a peaceful demonstration the gangs and looters stirred up all the trouble.
I hope it doesn't happen there will be so many people, families with children, tourists and the like lining the streets to see the parade that would get caught up in it, that would be awful. _________________ Span time and Space

| Lets hope they shoot a few of the F**ckers then. Im so sick of the way things are going in tnis country at the moment. What the hell did our ancestors fight for. I did chuckle though at one thing in the protests. there was a big banner flag with '666' Margeret Thatcher with a sarky comment aimed at David cameron. I truely hope William and Kates big day with as little hassle as possible.

| I think they ought to bring the death sentence back. sentencing should be like america. Prisons ought to be tough like America.
A note to all our friends out of the UK. Our Prisons are like hotels, convicts re commit to be able to go back in after release, because its a better life for them inside than out.
Work that one out ??????????????
I just love your cop programmes in the USA when its says how long the offenders got in jail, I sit and applaud and wish it was like it here.

| In canada you commit a crime get sentenced 8 years and are out in 2 for good behavior.
And petty crimes are commited by some simply to get 3 free meals and a bed.
you also see a high in crimes when winter rolls around |

| Oh, PoD! I'm shocked at all this news! I would have done as you, reported the man when he threatened my family. Do take care. Maybe have a word with the police again that the criminal is spreading his hatred of you around. They may then be guarding your shop, especially at closing time. Will keep praying for your protection and peace of mind, you be sure to do the same. It helps! I love your attitude about this, but I'd feel better if the police knew the situation. |

| Not that I'm a constant watcher of our national news (which to a degree reports on the world at large) but I haven't seen anything about these riots in England. I had to search them on YouTube -there's about 20 videos. I sure hope this doesn't spread to the US and thereafter turns into that large violence epidemic that I have been worried about for years. Probably unlikely since the trend is WE export our habits to the rest of the world and not vice versa. Do you think there's a common denominator between Egypt, Libya, Syria, and England? _________________ "Truth is as subjective as reality. | Tyco, after reading this thread, I was scanning the newspaper today. Saw something alarming about a run on banks in a headline of Sunday's paper, then for the life of me, could not find it. It was THERE, on the fold, then it was not. I read that whole page over and could not find it again. Maybe it was a figment of my imagination. I hope so. |

| Thanks guys. Tyco you made me laugh.
Thing is as the recession hits more and people are losing there jobs, there will be an up rise in robberies because people will get desperate. In my job, on a night, till 9.30pm, we are sitting targets really. People think because we are a betting shop, we have loads of money. We bank every day to the minimum. After 6pm, we are only allowed to have £500 out. We do have bandit screens, but I still dont think I would hand over the money. I know you will think im crazy its not my money, but I fel that if they get it once they will try it again. We do have cctv in the shop. I told my cashiers if it does happen, they must go into th back where our kitchen is, just run, leave me behind the counter, and ring the police from the back where they are safe, while I deal with the situation in the shop. Not much they can do with a knife, when we are behind a screen.

| There has been a huge increase in robberies here too, because of the recession. Now, the only stories they talk about are retirees making a get-away in their handicap scooters or lawn mowers, because they can't drive anymore. Sad and scary.
I have been noticing the banks I go to are now putting up bullet-proof shields and bars so their cashiers will not be harmed by customers. Makes me nervous they are anticipating trouble. Certainly, there are several bank robberies every week at various banks, and we live in a relatively quiet city, I believe, but if you talk to the clerks, they tell you, there are robberies in every kind of establishment, even grocery stores and pet care centers, dry cleaners and nail salons.
I don't go hardly anywhere after dark now. When I've had to, I noticed there is a lot less traffic than there used to be out at night. |

| We had a recent rash of bank robberies in this area too. And our corner store got broken into so many times during their off hours, that they decided to keep it open 24 hours. Great for late night snacking, but a sad commentary on the times. _________________ Strangers stopping strangers just to shake their hand. from Scarlet Begonias - Robert Hunter |
